Litigation/ADR Department

Approximately one-half the lawyers in the firm are involved directly in our litigation practice. We represent clients in proceedings before federal and state trial and appellate courts and administrative agencies, and in alternative dispute resolution (ADR) proceedings such as mediation or arbitration. We handle matters involving:

  • age, sex, race and other forms of discrimination and wrongful employment termination

  • copyright, patent and trademark

  • disputes arising out of all kinds of contracts or other business relationships
  • claims by shareholders against officers or directors of corporations or by beneficiaries of trusts against trustees
  • civil and criminal antitrust investigations and litigation
  • accident cases
  • class actions
  • declaratory judgment and compensatory and punitive damage claims involving insurance policies and surety bonds
  • representing banks and other financial institutions in regulatory matters and in operations claims, check fraud and wire transfer fraud cases
  • intellectual property cases, including patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret and software licensing litigation
  • representing creditors or debtors in litigation over disputed debts
  • defending professionals including doctors, hospitals, lawyers and accountants in malpractice cases
  • construction claims by contractors, engineers or architects
