BR&G Provides Input on Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine Proposed Regulations

A BR&G Information Bulletin regarding proposed regulations approved by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine is here.

We were pleased to note that the proposed regulations include a section that was suggested by our office, working in conjunction with other counsel to health care providers, in an effort to improve and increase communications between and among health care facilities concerning practitioners who have clinical privileges at multiple facilities. The proposed regulations include explicit language authorizing inquiries and disclosures between and among health care facilities during a practitioner’s appointment (as opposed to just at the time of initial appointment or credentialing, as in the current regulations). We believe these provisions will strengthen and improve peer review activities and patient care.
