Jodi Miller is a member of the firm’s Litigation/ADR Department, Health Law Practice Group and Schools, Colleges and Universities Practice Group and focuses her practice on commercial and other civil litigation and regulatory matters. She has handled a wide variety of litigation in federal and state jurisdictions throughout the country in matters involving antitrust, health law, intellectual property, products liability, real estate, corporate law, consumer fraud and protection, financial laws and regulations, and civil rights.
Jodi has a particular expertise in the area of health law and she represents all types of health care clients in a wide variety of matters, including contract disputes, health care legislative and regulatory compliance, fraud and abuse, school health, and tax-exempt status issues. Jodi also represented public and privately-held corporations, financial institutions, schools and universities, non-profits and individuals in a range of litigation matters. She also has extensive experience representing plaintiffs and defendants in numerous class action litigations.
Jodi is a member of the Board of Directors of Community Legal Aid, Inc., which provides free civil legal services to low-income and elderly residents of Central and Western Massachusetts. Jodi is also a member of the American Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, and the American Health Lawyers Association.
Related Professional Experience
Prior to joining the firm, Jodi was a senior staff attorney for a national child advocacy organization working to reform failing child welfare systems throughout the country. She also practiced in the New York City and San Francisco offices of a large international law firm for nine years. In 2001-2002, Jodi served as a law clerk to the Honorable Eduardo C. Robreno, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and, while in law school, she was the executive articles editor for New York University School of Law’s Annual Survey of American Law.
Successfully represented gas tubing manufacturer in dismissal of products liability class action which was affirmed by the First Circuit Court of Appeals.
Successfully arbitrated landlord /tenant dispute on behalf of an educational arts organization.
Represented large financial institutions in various complex antitrust class action litigation.
Successfully represented international transportation company in multiple class action lawsuits alleging various fraud and consumer protection claims.
Represented abused and neglected foster children in Section 1983 civil rights litigation, including class action institutional reform cases and individual damages cases, for violations of rights under federal constitutional and statutory laws.
Represented criminal defendant in post-conviction habeas proceedings in state and federal court to vacate wrongful homicide conviction. Argued case before Second Circuit Court of Appeals (see MassLive article).
Defended large university in lawsuits brought by students challenging the school’s disciplinary determinations. Successfully argued appeals before New York Appellate Division’s First Department.
