Bulkley Richardson Appoints New Leadership
Springfield, Mass. – We are pleased to announce that Mark D. Cress has joined Bulkley Richardson’s Executive Committee and Scott W. Foster has been appointed Chair of the firm’s Business and Finance Department.
“Mark’s service to Bulkley Richardson is exceptional, and his re-joining the Executive Committee after a brief hiatus is a testament to the respect and trust his colleagues have in him,” said Chairman of the Firm’s Executive Committee, Peter H. Barry.
“Scott has demonstrated that he is a strategic thinker on behalf of the firm’s clients, we look forward to him bringing that quality to his new leadership role,” Barry added.
Cress, a former co-chair of the firm’s Business and Finance Department, also currently serves as the Coordinator for the firm’s Finance, Banking and Bankruptcy Practice Group. He is also a member of the firm’s Real Estate Department and Health Law Practice Group. Cress has significant experience and possesses a broad range of knowledge and skills in representing both for profit and not-for-profit entities including healthcare and educational institutions, banks, professional service practices and individual clients in connection with all forms of financing and business transactions. He currently serves as Treasurer of the Glenmeadow Retirement Community in Longmeadow, MA and is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Pioneer Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Foster, a member of the firm’s Business and Finance Department, focuses on the growth aspects of private ventures. He represents startups, angel investors, and venture capital groups as well as publically held and private corporations in industries ranging from precision manufacturing to high-growth technology to commercial food production to multi-family residential housing. He is a Co-Founder and Chairman of Valley Venture Mentors, a startup accelerator that provides robust mentoring to entrepreneurs from around New England.
The five-member Executive Committee is responsible for making key business decisions for the firm. Other Executive Committee members are Barry, coordinator of the Construction and Schools, Colleges and Universities Practice Groups; Michael H. Burke, the coordinator of the Professional Malpractice Practice Group and a member of the Litigation/ADR Department; Daniel J. Finnegan, a member of the Litigation/ADR and Real Estate Departments and the Construction Law Practice Group; and Melinda M. Phelps, the coordinator of the Government Strategies Practice Group, chair of the Pro Bono Department and a member of the Litigation/ADR Department and Professional Malpractice Practice Group.
