Intellectual Property Paralegal

Description: 

Bulkley Richardson is seeking an Intellectual Property paralegal for its Springfield location.  Full or part-time hours available.  Must be MS Office proficient, must possess excellent communication and organizational skills.  Multi-tasking and teamwork are necessary.  Enter time daily, to meet firm’s minimum requirement.

Responsibilities include: 
  • Maintain clients’ domestic and foreign patent and trademark portfolios, including docketing new cases and maintaining internal files.
  • Conduct online patent searches and corporate research.
  • Prepare and file documents related to U.S. and foreign patent prosecution.
  • Prepare and file documents for PCT applications.
  • Manage patent and application maintenance fees (renewals and annuities).
  • Perform preliminary trademark “knock-out” searches.
  • Perform trademark clearance searches.
  • Prepare and file documents related to U.S. and foreign trademark prosecution and maintenance.
  • Review and analyze specimens of use.
  • Draft written communications to client and foreign associates.
  • Coordinate with foreign patent and trademark associates in order to complete foreign filing requirements.
  • Docket and monitor due dates for all patent and trademark matters.
  • Manage administrative tasks such as email correspondence, calendar management and time entry.
Experience and Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in supporting attorneys whose practice focuses on Intellectual Property.
  • Knowledge of USPTO procedures and filings (PAIR).
  • Understanding of PCT and general foreign patent prosecution procedures.
  • Cpi patent, AMS and TMSWeb trademark software experience.
  • Proficiency in computerized docketing systems and MS Office.
  • Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
